What to feed your mind
So, I spend a lot of time listening to Dave Ramsey via the Dave Ramsey App https://www.daveramsey.com/
I work out with him in my ear, I take a shower and listen, I drive to appointments and such and I listen to him. I listen to the callers, I listen to my family, friends, etc. I see the many financial mistakes they have made are making and even the ones I've made. I am trying to turn this thing around for me and my family. Here is my epiphany:
1. People are not willing to move even if it means a better job. I know! I wanted to stay with my family and I chose to not take certain jobs because I didn't want to move away. FYI, I moved away from my family for employment eventually.
2. People are not willing to chose careers that will allow them the ability to earn good/great money. When we send our children to school, we need to make sure they are taking/majoring in something that will allow them to earn a living or above living wage.
3. We need to teach our children that where you get your education, it just doesn't matter. No on asks where you went to college. They just want to know if your went, graduated and know what you are doing. Going to an expensive college doesn't give you a better education. It just gives you an education with bigger debt. (Wish I knew this years ago)
4. We need to teach people to NOT live above their means. Fancy cars, houses, vacations are not going to help us get out of debt when we are financing EVERYTHING to do that. Credit cards will catch up to you. I know by personal experience.
As loving, caring, Godly beings, we need to help each other understand the things that keep us pushed down and that is our debt. I heard today someone was making half the salary he could due to loyalty. WHAT? I like my friends and all but my family needs to have a GREAT life. I am VERY loyal, but we need to make sure we are not tkaing away from what our family needs in it's place.
