Survival
I hope you are doing well. I am originally from the north. I moved to Texas so that I did not have to deal with cold, snow, etc. So, Texas was hit last week with some really brutal weather. I have to say, when I first moved here back in 1990, I couldn't understand why Texans had such a hard time driving in wintry weather. As I have lived here for almost 31 years, I have grown to understand. We do not have the equipment to clear the roads or to maintain for the just in case (last storm like this here was apparently 1985).
Also, there is news circulating that the current administration gave instructions for the power company to run green efficiently which apparently created some issues. Also circulating was the company told the governor in Texas that they were prepared. They could handle what was coming to us. SO, who is telling the truth? Where was the breakdown? What really caused the issues? We had rolling blackouts, loss of water due to that and some areas lost both water and power for days, etc.
We lost power for about 12 hours and loss some water, but we filled up containers just in case! SO, our brick and mortar business (mechanic shop) was closed all week. Towing business was up when needed. It was busier at the beginning of the week then at the end of the snap. I was only able to work MY business on and off throughout the week. I did one live, but never knew when the power would go out so a lot of time was spent just hanging out with the family. I was able to help customers out and am now back at it this week, rescheduling and scheduling new appts. I love the flexibility of my business. I love that when I could not work, I was still in business.
Do you have flexibility? Were you able to work when you want and stay safe when you want? I LOVE that I am able to work through that! I can take care of family and I can work with safety! If you'd like more information, please let me know. Asking is not a commitment, it's just asking a question!
